Things To Do in Lancashire and Blackpool

When the day’s meetings are over there are myriad of things to see and do in Lancashire and Blackpool.  We have put together some suggested itineraries to give you a taste of the opportunities that the destination has to offer:

Culture in the City:

Morning
Spend the morning at Samlesbury Hall, a medieval manor-house dating from 1325 and discover where the past meets the present.  A haven for history lovers, a place of peace and tranquillity and a home for Lancashire’s finest produce

Lunch
On your way to Preston, stop off at Huntley’s of Samlesbury, the perfect setting for a relaxed and wholesome lunch.   A real authentic taste of Lancashire!

Afternoon
Spend the afternoon at Harris Museum & Art Gallery.  Go beyond the grandeur exterior of this grade one listed building and you’ll be rewarded by a delightful mixture of contemporary and traditional art.

Evening
After a day of culture enjoy an eclectic mix of world tapas at Duk Restaurant.  A unique dining experience.  Choose from the bespoke menus and surround yourself in the Peruvian decor.
Preston can offer a great atmosphere for those who want to make a night of it.  Why not take in a show at the Guild Hall & Charter Theatre which offers a wide mix of entertainment from ballet to stand up comedy and everything in between.

Are you competitive?  Why not challenge yourselves on the mile long karting circuit at Trax Motor Sports in the afternoon instead.  Great for team building, they even have a trophy for the winner.

The Home of Variety:

Morning:
Take the glass lift ride up to the top of the world famous Tower and you will be rewarded with amazing views of the UK’s favourite seaside resort and beyond.  On the way back down why not stop off and marvel at the world famous ballroom that is truly an architectural masterpiece not to be missed.

Before lunch take a stroll to the Grundy Art Gallery which specialises in contemporary visual art from the UK and behind and includes a collection of historically important artwork from major UK institutions as well as its own permanent collection.

Lunch:
In contemporary surroundings you can enjoy a relaxing light lunch at Toast Cafe and Bar in the heart of Blackpool.

Afternoon:
Just ten minutes from the seaside you will find De Vere Village Herons’ Reach set in 236 acres of parkland.  It is the perfect setting for a round of golf.   Whether you are a beginner or looking to improve your handicap the driving range and 18 hole championship golf course can be the perfect distraction.

To seek your thrills elsewhere take a tram to Pleasure Beach Resort.  Are you brave enough to ride the UK’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster – the Pepsi Big One! There are over 125 rides and attractions – something for everyone.  Fantastic shows take place throughout the day.  After an afternoon of excitement you may enjoy a stroll along the prom enjoying the Great Promenade Show – which has transformed Blackpool’s south shore with 12 stimulating sculptures including the world’s largest mirror ball.

Evening:
Experience Jali Restaurant serving only the finest dishes made from authentic ingredients inspired by India’s grand culinary traditions.  If you are looking for more traditional seaside fare why not tuck into fish and chips while you sit on the Spanish steps in the refreshing sea air?

When the sun sets in Blackpool the entertainment continues.  The architectural gem, The Grand Theatre, has a magnificent four-level auditorium.  The perfect setting for the all-year-round programme of events covering all live art forms.
Or spend the evening at Funny Girls, described as the show with no equal in a venue like no other.  Feathers, sequins and 'showgirls' converge in an extravagant spectacular.
