Morecambe Sandcastle Festival

The Sandcastle Festival is unique to the North of England and families and friends are urged to enter the competition to see who can wow the judges by building the biggest and best sandcastle.

There will be loads of great prizes up for grabs including a top prize for the winning team. For inspiration, the theme this year is ‘the East’ and there will be camels on display and professional artists will create sand sculptures shaped like pyramids and other amazing displays.

Throughout the weekend, a variety of family activities and beach games are on offer, as well as music from a traditional brass band.

The festival takes place over the weekend of Saturday 31 July and Sunday 1 August. All activities are free to join in so bring all your family and friends for a great beach party weekend. If you are interested in taking part in the sandcastle competition, you must register beforehand.

Only twenty teams can take part, so the sooner you sign up the more chance you’ll have of taking part. Contact Simon Armstrong on 582829 to register or for more information. Teams can include up to 4 members with two separate age categories of ‘under 12s’ and ‘open’. The ‘under 12s’ teams will need a supervising adult aged 18 or over.

SATURDAY:
11am - 4pm. There will be games and entertainment plus the chance to practise your sandcastle building skills.

SUNDAY:
Make sure you register between 9am - 10.45am for the competition, which will take place between 11am and 2pm. Bring your buckets and spades...but no pre-cast mouldings...only traditional tools allowed!
With games, activities and entertainment until 4pm - including beach volleyball, parachute games and the chance to meet our visiting camels, Kokoso and Veneta, the event promises to be a fun day for everyone!
